A 23-year-old Quebec man who police say lost control of his motorcycle while performing a dangerous manoeuvre is facing six traffic citations and thousands of dollars in fines. The Sureté du Quebec issued a news release Tuesday saying the incident occurred on Sunday at about 1:15 p.m. on the Laurentian Expressway North in Quebec City, near the Jean-Talon Blvd. exit. Paramedics provided first aid to the young man, who sustained minor injuries. Police say he performed a “wheelie” on the highway before losing control and falling. He only held a learner’s permit. He will receive six traffic citations, including: His driver’s licence was suspended for 30 days due to reckless driving. The young man from Quebec City had previous violations for similar offences, said police. $1700 ticket for speeding, driving impaired On Saturday at 1 a.m., a 24-year-old driver from Quebec City was pulled over for driving 178 km/h on the Robert Bourassa Expressway north near Careau Street, which is a 90 km/h zone. Police said he was arrested for driving with impaired faculties due to alcohol. Breathalyzer tests showed his blood alcohol concentration was more than double the legal limit. His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days. He received a $1,693 traffic ticket and 18 demerit points, police said.
