Quebec’s labour minister says that the government has reached an agreement in principle with the Quebec Association of Pharmacist-Owners. According to Minister Jean Boulet, some employers, unions, and insurers had raised concerns about fees charged by some pharmacists and the pressure this placed on group insurance plans. The government had added a provision regulating these fees. However, Boulet said in a social media post on Monday that an amendment was introduced to remove the controversial provision. In return, the pharmacists’ association will participate in discussions on these fees with the government and the insurers. L’Association québécoise des pharmaciens propriétaires (AQPP) represents more than 2,000 pharmacist owners and almost 1,900 pharmacies in Quebec.
