Montreal police say a 24-year-old woman was injured overnight during an armed assault outside a bar in the Villeray—Saint-Michel—Parc-Extension borough. At around 3:15 a.m. Sunday, police received 911 calls reporting the armed assault near the intersection of 9th Avenue and Jarry Street. Police say an altercation happened between two groups of people outside a bar as people were leaving. People from both sides then got into their vehicles and then collided with each other in a case of road rage near the intersection, according to police spokesperson Manuel Couture. The people involved in the altercation then got out of their vehicles and got into a brawl. During the incident, a man reportedly threw a rock at the 24-year-old woman, striking her in the upper body. “The victim sustained injuries and was transported to a hospital, however, her life is not in danger,” said Couture. The suspect fled the scene before police arrived. Investigators were called to the scene to better understand the circumstances surrounding armed assault as the investigation continues.
