A restaurant in Montreal’s Saint-Michel neighbourhood was targeted by alleged arson for the second time in two days. Montreal police (SPVM) received a 911 call at 5:10 a.m. Monday about flames on Jean-Talon Street near 22e Avenue. “When the police arrived at the scene, some citizens were already extinguishing the fire inside the restaurant,” said Caroline Chèvrefils, a spokesperson with Montreal police. “According to initial reports, the suspect apparently managed to enter the restaurant to set it on fire and then fled before the police arrived.” She notes that the same business was set aflame on Sunday at 3 a.m. There have been no arrests. No incendiary materials were found at the scene, and the damage is considered minor. The investigation has been transferred to the Montreal police arson squad.
