A 13-year-old teenager riding an electric scooter was sent to the hospital with serious injuries following a collision on Montreal’s South Shore Friday afternoon. The collision occurred around 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of Simard and Plamondon boulevards in Saint-Lambert, according to Longueuil police. Police were unable to say at the time what circumstances led to the collision. Traffic has resumed and the scene has been cleared. Following the collision, police reiterated on social media the importance of wearing a helmet to reduce the risk of serious head injuries and respecting road signs and traffic lights. They also emphasized exercising caution at intersections and parking lot entrances, and avoiding distractions while driving. Police also reminded the public that electric scooter riders must be 14 years old.
