The City of Dorval is joining BIXI’s bike-sharing service with six new stations, offering residents a fleet of 66 bicycles and strengthening the network in the western part of the Island of Montreal. The fleet consists of equal numbers of regular and electric-assist bicycles. Using the BIXI app, users pay a flat rate, access unlimited-zone subscriptions, locate stations, and check bike availability. They can also rent bikes through the BIXI website. BIXI said the stations are located near key areas, including sports facilities, green spaces, the city’s waterfront and the Dorval train station, making it easier for residents and visitors to get around for daily commutes and recreational activities. “We thank BIXI Montréal and our government partners for their collaboration in bringing this promising project to life for our community,” said Dorval Mayor Marc Doret. The bike-sharing company said the expansion will broaden options for short-distance trips and promote active and sustainable mobility in the area. The project was funded through a grant of $110,457 from the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility’s 2025-2026 Financial Assistance Program for the Development of Active Transportation in Urban Areas. BIXI currently has more than 13,000 bicycles, including 3,500 electric bikes, at 1,180 stations in 19 cities in its network. Montreal has the largest fleet of electric bikes in Canada and one of the largest in North America.
