A frantic search for a mixed-breed Yorkshire Terrier is over after the dog, Homer, was found 80 days following his mysterious disappearance. “It was awful. This was a disaster. It was heart-wrenching,” Homer’s owner, Isabelle Pinsky, told CTV News Thursday night. The 84-year-old said it was “wonderful” to have him back in her arms again. The 11-year-old dog was reported missing on Nov. 12, 2025, after he got out of Pinksy’s husband’s parked car in the Snowdon area. Pinsky believed Homer might have been abducted and filed a police report, but heard nothing until about three weeks ago. The Proanima animal shelter on Pie-IX Boulevard contacted the couple and said someone had found the dog on a nearby sidewalk on the other side of the city. A chip inside the dog confirmed it was Homer, who’s named after “The Simpsons” character. “Everybody thinks it’s a miracle,” Pinsky said. Since the ordeal, he has lost three pounds. “Just imagine 80 days not being with him and worrying where he is,” she said. “I was waiting for a phone call from anybody to say he’s finished. And waiting 80 days and get this call on a Saturday to say that we have your dog, I was shocked.” When he was found, he was weak, tired and scared, but Pinsky said he’s now happy and healthy.
