A man allegedly linked to more than a dozen residential break-ins and thefts across several Montreal boroughs has been arrested, according to Montreal police (SPVM). The SPVM says the alleged offences occurred overnight between July 13 and July 20 in the boroughs of Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, Ahuntsic-Cartierville, Plateau-Mont-Royal and Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie. Police allege the suspect entered homes through unlocked patio doors or by forcing open screen doors. Once inside, investigators say he searched handbags and stole cash, cellphones, jewelry and bank cards before fleeing. Searches carried out by investigators allowed police to gather evidence linking the suspect to the incidents. Naby Bangoura, 29, appeared in a Montreal courtroom on Tuesday and is facing charges including break and enter, attempted break and enter, and theft. The investigation was led by the Montreal police regional investigations unit for the city’s north sector, with assistance from several other SPVM units. Police are asking anyone with information to call 911 or contact their local neighbourhood police station. Rewards of up to $5,000 may be offered for information leading to the arrest of suspects, subject to certain conditions.
