Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the Vaudreuil area Wednesday afternoon. The national weather agency said conditions are favourable for severe thunderstorms to develop, “thunderstorms capable of producing strong gusts, large hail and heavy rain.” It warned that severe thunderstorms can also produce a tornado. Electricity outages are possible, as well. Boaters are urged to stay off the water.“Nautical activities may be hazardous due to sudden, severe wind gusts over bodies of water,” the weather agency said. Drivers should also be aware that heavy rain can cause flash flooding and significant reductions to visibility.
