A teenager has been arrested after a triplex in Montreal’s Saint-Michel neighbourhood was targeted by a fire early Tuesday morning. Montreal police (SPVM) received a 911 call at 2:30 a.m. about the incident on 10th Avenue and Legendre Street. “When the police arrived on the scene, the Montreal Fire Department was securing the area,” said Caroline Chèvrefils, a spokesperson with Montreal police. “The fire had gone out on its own.” She added that incendiary materials were found on site. “According to the first information, one or more suspects would have set the fire in front of the triplex’s front door and then fled before the arrival of police,” Chèvrefils noted. Damage to the building is considered minor. On Tuesday afternoon, Montreal police said a 15-year-old has been arrested and will appear in youth court later in the day on unspecified charges. The file has been transferred to the Montreal police arson squad.
