Police in western Quebec have identified a man whose remains were found in Gatineau Park earlier this month. The MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais police said a hiker found the remains on a trail on Sept. 7. The remains were those of Ludovic Anthony Florent Chauvin, 44, of Ottawa, police said in a news release on Thursday. Police said Chauvin had been missing since Feb. 8, 2026. His vehicle was found in the P11 parking lot in the Meech Lake area on Feb. 14, prompting unsuccessful searches for him. The discovery of Chauvin’s remains prompted closures of trails near the P16 parking lot, which is about five kilometres north of the P11 lot. Police said Chauvin was not the victim of a criminal act and that no other details would be released.
