A 23-year-old Penticton, B.C., woman has died after a single-vehicle crash on Highway 3 east of Osoyoos, with police saying alcohol is believed to have been a contributing factor. In a news release Thursday, the B.C. Highway Patrol said Osoyoos RCMP responded to the crash shortly before 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, involving a grey older-model Chevrolet Colorado equipped with a ladder and boat rack. Police said the vehicle was travelling westbound on Highway 3 when it left the roadway and went down an embankment near Hewitt Road. “Officers attended the scene alongside emergency medical personnel and located two occupants in the vehicle,” the BCHP said in the release. “Despite life-saving efforts, a 23-year-old Penticton woman succumbed to her injuries while being transported to Kelowna by ambulance. The second occupant was treated for injuries.” The investigation remains ongoing. The BCHP is asking witnesses or anyone with dash-cam video of the area at the time of the crash to call investigators in Keremeos at 250-499-2250.
